About Our Organization
Minds Matter is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to transform the lives of accomplished high school students from low-income families by broadening their dreams and preparing them for college success.
Founded in 1991, Minds Matter provides high school students with educational opportunities that surpass their dreams. For more than a decade, Minds Matter has helped hard-working high school students gain acceptance to top-tier summer college programs and four-year colleges and universities.
During weekly mentoring sessions, Minds Matter volunteers help students navigate the college application process through cracking the PSAT/SAT/ACT, polishing writing and speaking skills, demystifying financial aid, and building confidence levels -- all while forming lasting friendships.
The results? First generation college students attending top-tier institutions, standardized test score improvements, beaming parents, and proud volunteers.
We are a group of young professionals who seek to participate in a program which is educationally-focused and goal-oriented, yet geared toward fostering lasting, personal relationships with our students.
Our volunteers not only guide students through the application process, but also provide a deep level of commitment and encouragement. Few mentoring programs address the needs of talented students who lack the resources to realize their full potential. Minds Matter fills this often overlooked void by providing a foundation of support, encouragement and academic enrichment for its students.
Minds Matter has chapters in:
Boston, Massachusetts
Chicago, Illinois
Cleveland, Ohio

Portland, Oregon.
