Founded in 1991, Minds Matter is a not-for-profit organization that brings high-achieving and motivated high schools students from low-income families together with dedicated mentors to achieve academic excellence and expand educational horizons.
By working with our mentors and attending top-tier summer programs, Minds Matter students gain academic and social enrichment, while strengthening their college applications. The organization also thoroughly addresses their need for guidance through the college admissions and financial aid processes.
In the 2008-2009 academic year, Minds Matter has over 175 students in six chapters across the United States and is supported by more than 450 volunteers.
The organization relies solely on donations from generous individuals, corporations and foundations to send students to summer programs in the United States and abroad, and to provide them with scholarships.
Minds Matter builds lifelong mentee/mentor friendships and provides students with academic opportunities that may otherwise never have existed.
